BACKGROUND

Kenya Community Media Network (KCOMNET) is seeking an individual with experience in the area of monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) to contribute to KCOMNET’s overall M&E activities.

The position is part of our ongoing Project dubbed Our County Our Responsibility:Telling data Stories,Revealing Citizens Realities which has a mandate of conducting a formal mid-term review, identifying further needs, reporting, documenting results for the project, and preparing the final external evaluation.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1) Research project support

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager and working closely with the project partners Code for Africa(CFA) and CAMECO, lead the research work in methods, tools and processes as part of our County Our Responsibility Project.

  • Monitor and Report Project Progress/ Measures
  • Prepare and Conduct a Mid-term Review
  • Develop and Collect Baseline Data
  • Participate in developing theoretical framework(s) to situate research for the BMZ Project
  • Coordinate the collection of data in overarching meta-analysis of the Use and adequacy of Projects County Development Information System (CDIS)
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data collected at various points in the BMZ project
  • Assist in the Financial Reporting of the BMZ Project
  • Attend and report in the biweekly project meetings

2) Monitoring & Evaluation

Contribute expertise in monitoring, evaluation, research and learning (MERL) to ongoing M&E activities in KCOMNET, including both KCOMNETS impact projects and capacity building.

  • Contribute to the design of new projects, with special focus on developing logic models, indicators, and forming evaluation and learning frameworks, monitoring/learning/evaluation plans
  • Coordinate and advise in the design, conduct and write-up of baseline surveys, formative research studies, etc.
  • Participate in ongoing project planning and reviewing of monitoring and learning activities
  • Aid in the planning and completion of internal and external evaluations of KCOMNET programs
  • Lead in the coordination of submitting peer-reviewed journal articles, in consultation with project Officers
  • Capture and share knowledge derived from KCOMNET activities and projects

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 3 years’ experience in research role(s) relating international Media Development projects
  • At least 3 years of experience in coordination of monitoring and evaluation in international Media development projects
  • Degree/Diploma in Statistics, Sociology, Data Analysis, or other related subject with special focus on Community Media, or related field
  • Knowledge of and experience in program development and implementation, including project cycles and results-based management
  • Advanced experience in statistical analysis including regression analysis and other statistical modelling tools.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in mixed methods research (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Strong research, evaluation, data analysis and writing skills
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
  • Good organization skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision and with limited resources
  • Willingness to travel within the Country – Kenya
